Living on purpose, with purpose

Live On Purpose introduces a brand new blog about…guess what…living on purpose. When we are aware of our thoughts and behaviors, we can develop our purpose. When we can see our motivations, we can choose different paths for our lives. We can live on purpose.

However, if we remain bound to the interior invisible walls we’ve built to guard our own vulnerability, we end up living accidental lives. An accidental life is one where we wake up one day and realize, “How did I get here? I didn’t want to end up this way.” I am not talking about what happens to us when an accident befalls us and ruins our lives. I am talking about what happens to us when, let’s say, we let the “what-ifs” from the day of the accident rule our lives and sink us into a quicksand of depression.

To try to illustrate this, let me link you to Christopher Reeve’s Biography.

Christopher Reeve has truly lived the hero’s life, in my opinion. After starring as the hero in the movie “Superman,” he was injured in a terrible accident and became paralyzed from the neck down. He struggled daily to regain control over his limbs. It took six years for him to have control over his index finger. Of course he suffered from bouts of depression during that time. He explained that he has good days and down days like everyone else. During his journey, however, he and his wife used their fame and their funds to start the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation for Spinal Cord Injury, which has helped thousands of patients with spinal cord injuries. So even though he suffered a debilitating accident, he turned it around and found his purpose, and lived purposefully as best as he could.

You’ve got a very nice topic. An issue that few people pursue and I agree with you. The worst tragedy in life is not death but, life without purpose. I’ll keep an eye on your blog. By the way, I got to know your site through http://youareliving.com
